Interior Inspiration: Clever Kitchens
Create a kitchen as unique as you and your family’s needs with our on-trend and clever suggestions.
If you’ve been longing to brighten up dull January with a splash of colour in a new kitchen, you may well find that you’re swimming against the tide because the trend is for grey all the way in 2019. Yet while it may not be cheerful, grey is certainly a stylish interior colour and, what’s more, unlike some of the more recent brights it won’t date quickly.
50 shades of grey
As much as there’s more than one white when it comes to paint colours, there’s certainly more than one grey when it comes to kitchens. We love the solid timber, narrow-framed shaker door with a veneered centre panel in the Elswick collection from LochAnna Kitchens. To be fair, it’s actually available in 27 finishes, from cool greys to daring blues and purples, but you can’t deny that it does look good with its uncomplicated door style sitting alongside the more contemporary Mala doors, both in graphite.
Kitchen specialist Caple has added the Arezzo kitchen to their comprehensive kitchen furniture portfolio and one of the colours in this collection is Smoke, again in line with the latest trend. The doors come in lacquered gloss with a matching edge, making them ultra durable and helping to prevent moisture penetration. This lovely grey shade is particularly good in an open-plan kitchen, and works well with contemporary living or dining furniture.
Doug Haswell, Caple’s Furniture Manager, says: “We are delighted to have added the Arezzo range to our kitchen collection. Smoke looks stunning and reflects one of the latest trends for gunmetal grey in the hub of the home. Or why not choose from our other modern neutral colours for a different on-trend finish in your kitchen – Cashmere, Light Grey, Oyster or White? You can even mix and match with different shades to create your own personal touch.”
Eau to go!
Looking for some high-tech wizardry to complete a new kitchen? This month (19th January), Grohe is launching an app to go with their clever Blue Home WaterSystem, which gives you still, sparkling or semi-sparkling water literally on tap.
The app notifies you when the filter or CO2 bottle needs to be replaced and even helps you track how much water you are drinking every day, to help ensure you stay well-hydrated.
