The Perfect Reason To Hurry To Sturry

Kathton House provides a warm welcome on arrival. A sophistically decorated restaurant, with beautifully laid tables provides for the perfect setting for a lunchtime or evening visit.

Initially quiet (as we had an early lunchtime booking), we were offered a choice of tables. We were attended to immediately after taking our seats and served with the menu and our drinks. The customers who were already in the restaurant and those that arrived after us were treated to the same excellent service. The lunch menu was extensive and it was pleasing to see that it was also clearly labelled for diners with allergens.

It was difficult to decide what to eat. After much deliberation our waiter kindly helped us with our choices. We chose the goat’s cheese and the grilled mackerel to start – and both were made to order, served beautifully and full of flavour. Neither were too heavy and the portions perfect to start. Lamb rump and fresh green garden pea risotto followed for our mains. Both were tastefully served and accompanied with fresh vegetables for each person. Cooked to perfection, the lamb was delicious and the risotto was heavenly.

We finished our meal with the strawberry parfait and the rhubarb cheesecake for dessert – both perfect choices, served delightfully and exquisite to taste. Coffee and herbal tea followed.

This is a truly charming restaurant. Comfortably busy for a Wednesday lunchtime, service was second to none with our every need catered for. Food is locally sourced (including Romney Marsh lamb) and cooked freshly on site. A delightful restaurant, tucked away from the main road and ideally situated for that special lunchtime or evening meal.
