Get Real! Why Are We So Obsessed By Reality TV?
It can’t surely all be down to the need for a little light relief away from the Brexit – Deal or No Deal debate?
So with Strictly shimmying its way to the grand live final on Saturday 15th December, another contingent of celebrities battling it out in I’m A celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! to be crowned king or queen of the Australian jungle, and news that the class of 2018's hit reality show will be back together for Love Island: The Christmas Reunion with Caroline Flack back on hand to host the proceedings as she is joined by 19 of the most talked about reality stars of the year – just why have so many of us let reality TV take over our lives?
Why on earth does 71-year-old Harry Redknapp, former manager of Tottenham and West Ham, with a £500,000 salary feel the need to battle it out in the jungle alongside 69-year-old Noel Edmonds showing off his six-pack or for that matter DIY SOS’s Nick Knowles, 56, a former pupil of Skinners’ school in Tunbridge Wells!
But then perhaps it’s just me – 7.5 million viewers tuned into see the Great British Bake Off final back in October, with the Love Island 2018 final in the summer pulling in the biggest ITV2 viewing figures of all time as Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham took home the £50,000 prize money. I really must get out more..!
