Photography For Wellbeing In Herne Bay
Daniel Russell’s exhibition, in partnership with the charities Mind and the Samaritans, aims to show how hobbies like photography can promote healthier living, especially when living with a disability of mental health.
Daniel, whose rapid cycling bi-polar affected his previous career, explains how people with mental illnesses can often be very creative and that they may see things in a vivid way. Because of this, the arts are an effective, therapeutic outlet.
“My bi-polar is a huge part of what I do,” says Daniel. “But this is not just promoting bi-polar, but all mental illness. And not just photography, but other creative outlets.”
Daniel likes nothing better than being outside, finding photographic opportunities with the camera. “It’s a challenge having a disability, and sometimes you can’t get out,” he says, “but you do what you can!”
