The Contemporary Glass Society (CGS) celebrates 20 years since its foundation as the principle supporter and promoter of contemporary glassmakers across the UK and internationally, representing almost 1,000 members.
They are celebrating this landmark anniversary – and raising awareness of the glory of contemporary glass – through a series of linked exhibitions, which are being held around Great Britain over the next three years. CGS has chosen Maidstone Museum to host this event in the South East region.
The exhibition will run until 10th November, showcasing work by South East members, and the work on display ranges from international high-flyers to hobbyists and includes exquisite cast glass sculptures by local prize-winning Max Jacquard from Headcorn. All the work on display will also be on sale.
Visitors can see and understand how pieces are made through several events, including a series of hands-on workshops, a Glass Forum Day on 13th October as well as a Glass Makers Fair on 3rd November.
